Marking the Open/Marking the Close

Marking the open and marking the close refer to making multiple trades minutes after the opening or minutes before the closing of the market in order to manipulate the price of the security. This type of manipulation is sometimes referred to as “stuffing” or “owning” a security, and it is strictly prohibited.
